We teamed up with partners Wordscape to bring you “Women in Translation Book Club (WiT LPL)”, a Liverpool-based online book club celebrating women’s voices in global literature. Launching in July – for August’s International Women in Translation Month – the book club will spotlight one book per day throughout the month, each written by a female author or translated by a female translator. Short, engaging recommendations in the style of a trusted bookseller will sit alongside a weekly ‘In Conversation with’ feature, bringing together authors, translators and readers who move between languages for a living or for love.
The campaign lives online but reaches into the real world too, designed to build audiences for face-to-face events in 2027. As well as social media posts and blogs exploring what it means to read – or think – in more than one language, we’ll be setting books free: leaving translated titles on trains, ferries and in cafés across the city region, each carrying the book club’s details as an invitation to join in and share.
Keep an eye on this page for our WiT LPL social media handles.
And if you’re a female author, translator or avid reader who would like to recommend their favourite books, please contact us ASAP, we’d love to hear from you and get you involved!
