The Liverpool Rainbow Chorus celebrated its 10th anniversary with a night to remember: performing to a packed Unity Theatre, Liverpool Rainbow Chorus pulled out all the stops and received standing ovations!
The choir had been rehearsing for months with musical director par excellence, Max O’Hara. They brought us on board to ‘make them look good on stage’. Not that they needed it, they sounded so good they could’ve performed in the dark! However, we came up with a stage and lighting plot that underlined the power of the songs and the performance delivered on every level.
Funded by the Lottery Community Fund, the choir put a call out for people taking place in a scratch choir, rehearsing on the day of the performance with stand-in MD Mersey Wylie. We made sure their stunning performance of ‘Like A Prayer’ looked good on stage and planned the staging for the joint performance of ‘Here Comes The Sun’ – a highlight of the evening. The ‘Rainbow Medley’ took the crown though: packed with gay classics and ending with ‘The Rainbow Connection’, it gave the choir members the opportunity for synchronised movement and even Kermit got an outing.
Not only are Liverpool Rainbow Chorus an amazingly talented bunch of people, but they’re also real fun to work with! Read all about their 10th Anniversary Concert here.
