Liverpool’s Eurovision programme of events got under way with the Blue & Yellow Submarine Parade
In October 2022, Liverpool was chosen to host the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine: a huge honour for our home city! And an obligation that Liverpool fulfilled by hosting a mind-blowingly fab programme of events across 10 days.
The programme kicked off with the Blue & Yellow Submarine Parade, a stupefyingly beautiful and courageous project produced by the Invisible Wind Factory in partnership with the Kazimier and commissioned by Culture Liverpool commission. The parade included bespoke floats – the blue and yellow submarine among them – as well as hand-made fish, dancers in costume, drummers, a live band and 2 singers, underlined by haze and smoke. Our director Nicole was chuffed to bits when the Wind Factory approached her for the role of parade manager. Honestly, she was probably still on cloud nine weeks later, it was such an unforgettable experience.
