Sefton Council and Sound City joined forces for a 3-day music festival on the Salt & Tar event site in Bootle. Hugged between Bootle Strand Shopping Centre and the Leeds-Liverpool canal with a capacity of 3000, Salt & Tar had not been used for live music events before. The planning, production and operations, bang in Bootle town centre, were new and hugely exciting territorry. Sound City programmed a fantastic line-up with headliners the Lathums on Friday 7th July, Cast on Sunday 9th July and Red Rum Club smashing a sold-out event on Saturday 8th July.

The team at Event CTRL brought us on board this brand-new and exciting event as operation managers, working closely with Sefton Council in the run-up to the events on noise management, security provision and traffic management. During the events, we were part of the excellent delivery team including Sound City, Total Control Sound and the mighty Optimal.

An epic 3 days, leading to Salt & Tar being shortlisted for “Best New Festival” at the UK Festival Awards 2023.

Oh and Tom Jones is playing Salt & Tar in 2024. Yes. THE Tom Jones.
